Big trucks are involved in thousands of deaths on US roads every year. Chad Jones compares that number to deaths from plane crashes and questions where the urgency is to address the problem.
There’s a lot. There’s like 5,000 deaths caused by big trucks every year in the US. Can you imagine if there were 5,000 deaths every year from plane crashes? The entire country would be mobilizing to fix that problem.
What is there on a plane? 200 people. It would take 25 crashes a year to get to that kind of number of a plane full of people. There are that many deaths every year in truck crashes. Where’s the urgency? Where’s the desire from federal officials to fix this problem?
There just really isn’t. It’s a huge problem. The country needs to work on this to reduce the number of deaths by these big trucks.
